The name Amadou Samba Gambia has become increasingly well-known not only in African business circles but also abroad. In fact, Samba was credited by the Vanguard Newspaper of Nigeria as the reason why Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) was selected Bank of the Year. When asked to speak more about GT Bank’s winning streak, Samba highlighted two factors he believed were keys to the bank’s growth. Firstly, he spoke of the specific courses of action GT Bank undertook in order to place itself one step ahead of the competition. GT Bank didn’t just concentrate on offering new products and services. Before they offered anything, they made sure that it was something the market wanted and needed. They placed customer service before anything else and ensured that they listened to what their customers had to say. Secondly, Samba believed that none of their hard work would pay off if macro factors in Gambia weren’t already stable.
Overall, Amadou Samba Gambia has lots of reasons to smile about as GT Bank had achieved various milestones in its fairly young existence. Nigeria’s Vanguard Newspaper recently selected GT Bank among the many banks in the region as Bank of the Year. The bank is also famous for being the first company to make the use of ATMs possible in Gambia. In2007, GT Bank also experienced a 100% growth increase, which is why at present the bank’s shareholder funds amount to D200,000,000 and is only just a step behind Gambia’s top banks, Trust Bank and Standard Chartered.
